Conscious Gear Expo is a volunteer-run collaborative led by Joe Rogers, education policy and civic engagement consultant; Janet Cox, active and devoted member of St. Mark's Methodist Church in Harlem; and Makeba Lloyd, Founder of Butter by Keba and volunteer press secretary to the grassroots organization Harlem 4 Obama.

Conscious Gear Expo coordinators and affiliates promote constructive and proactive approaches to addressing the social injustices preventing our communities from reaching their full potential.  We strongly believe that our youth, empowered with well-honed critical thinking and advocacy skills, are essential partners in the movement for positive social change.  Developing the current and future young leaders of our communities ensures all of us a more just and equitable tomorrow.
